[ His job indeed does require full days, but Robin couldn't decide on new art pieces and give approval for them, so he showed up to just do that part and assign them space... He can do the rest later. ]
Ah, she heard you. I'll make sure she's with me, and will see you there.
[ Hugo looked to his side, where Irene has lifted her head. They were going to the park? It seemed so. Storing away his phone, he picked up a light jacket and flicked his head at her. Irene lowers herself from the couch, padding up past him and to the door to wait. Hugo pauses to pick up her pokeball, just in case it was necessary, and head out.
Will there probably be people upset his 'dog' isn't on a leash? Probably, but Irene was a pokemon and didn't need one of those. She knew to stay by his legs on their way there. ]
[Robin, your hard work in maintaining that Art Gallery knows no bounds. He'll be sure to send Butler with you one day to assist.]
Sounds good. See you there.
[It doesn't take Lycaon long to get there either--it's definitely on the way to his house, with it being in the same area. And it doesn't take him long to find Hugo there either. The man's features aside, Irene stood out among other dogs quite noticably. So when he gets there, he no more gets to the walkway by the lake that he sees him there, his heels clicking against the cobblestone path.]
There you are. Thank you for meeting me here. [And not wanting to leave her out, he crouches down to stroke at Irene's ear in greeting.]
[ Hugo scoffs like he's frankly insulted Lycaon has to even thank him for something as natural as meeting him when requested. Irene lifted her head into the stroking, silently satisfied with the attention. She was also requested to be here, after all. ]
Ugh, whatever. [ Best to move past it and stick his sunglasses in his hair. ] What did they give you? It can't be worse than that figure that keeps changing clothes and staring at things.
[ He needs to remind himself to find a priest for that thing. That thing was not right with god in the way it should be. ]
[He rolls his eyes at Hugo's little scoff, a smile across his lips.] Yes, a common expression of gratitude for making the trek out. I know you're unfamiliar.
[Without much fanfare, he takes out the pokeball, holding it between his index finger and thumb to show him.]
The Goodwill merchant gave this to me and said 'I'd need it'. He must've been privy to the post on the network Mr. Koski made.
I don't know what's in it, which is why I asked for Irene's presence. [In case things went south and this Pokemon is particularly hostile.]
[ Upon hearing what her purpose is, she rises from her sitting position and lowers her front half into a more prepared position. Low on her haunches, she focused on the ball in Lycaon's hand, making sure she was ready to pounce if it became necessary.
Hugo rose a brow at the ball, ignoring the roll of the wolf's eyes. If it was a pokemon, did that mean that they were going to need more of them in order to find that rare plant? Honestly, that was a logical conclusion. ]
If they deal in the selling and purchasing of pokemon, it makes sense that they would know what was going on.
Good point. Perhaps this one has something Veronika can't accomplish.
[Taking a step back to give them space, Lycaon warms up his legs, even if they don't fully activate. Should this go south, he would have to get Hugo and himself out of there quickly.
With a light toss, he flicks the Pokeball in front of him into the space he created between Hugo and himself. The capsule opens, and the light forms into a rather large shape. A catlike creature with a full mane, and a star on its tail. It almost stands at 5 feet, and it takes a few steps to inspect its surroundings, calmly blinking at Irene who stands his opposite.
The Pokeball goes back to Lycaon's hand. Suddenly it's understandable why the Goodwill merchant said he'd 'need this'. Like Irene, this was a fully adult Pokemon. Likely battle ready.]
It seems well behaved so far.
[The Luxray's head turns towards his voice, noticing the Pokeball in his hand. With a nod, it seems to recognize Lycaon as its owner.]
[ Hugo, for one, didn't expect a creature that big to come out. So far, their pokemon had been fairly small. This blue lion-looking creature was massive. Seeing that it didn't fight or make a fuss, Hugo turned his attention to Lycaon with a raise of his brows.
Irene didn't seem perturbed by luxray's size. She waiting a few silent moments and then rose to her full height once more. Although she was usually very quiet, and was aware the bigger lycanroc was able to understand them, she took the opportunity to speak first. ]
'If you intend to follow the packleader's word, I have no problem.'
[ Which one was the packleader? Hugo had no idea. He merely motioned to the beast with a hand. ]
Well, I can't fault them for thinking you needed a bigger, more battle ready pokemon.
[Lycaon was also surprised by the Luxray's size. He'd expected him to be no more large than Irene herself, but in comparison he almost dwarfed her.
The Luxray itself seems to be taking in the situation, watching the rather oddly standing Lycanroc that was to be his Master speak with the human shaped one, before turning his attention to Irene herself.
'Rest assured, my lady. I understand the situation and I will do my duty in full. I look forward to working with you.'
He bows his head in respect to her, tail swishing idly.
Lycaon lets out the breath he didn't realize he was holding as he watches the interaction, taking in what they're saying. Packleader...he too wonders just which one of them Irene means.]
I've been reading up on Pokémon and it seems that Wild Pokémon tend to ambush travelers in Kanto. I'd been worried about Veronika since shes so young, but this is a boon.
It seems he understands that I'm his master, and has no issues with Irene.
[ Irene... considers this polite reaction ambiguously at first, merely staring at The Luxray. Turning, puts a paw to his pant leg. It brings Hugo's attention back down to her. ]
Yes Rina--Irene?
[ His eyes roll, shaking his head shortly and turning his attention to the stoic lady.
'They are the same.'
Although Hugo could not understand, he gave her the respect of his attention... and then refused to look at Lycaon for the translation. Unfortunately, he couldn't figure out what the low growl and air-pawing meant. She would have to be satisfied with a pet to her fur and Hugo looking over at Luxray. ]
Then this will be fine. I doubt Veronika or the bangboo will have a problem either.
[ They were becoming the parents of quite the group of ... things, Hugo thought to himself, not wanting to think much deeper about how domestic they quickly became. ]
[The Luxray watches Irene's movements, feeling her calculating gaze at his own before she turns to the more human looking one. It seems to straighten up when she turns, as if standing at attention.
Lycaon catches her summary of the interaction, and he can't lie. He does see similarities in the Luxray's personality with his own. There were subtle differences. This one feels more like a knight, but the formality is still there that was very, very reminiscent of Lycaon.
He can't disagree with what Hugo says, either. Veronika would likely take to him, and the Bangboo would likely adapt. Arsene often kept to themselves, and Butler and Robin were highly adaptable. He'd already thought Irene was a significant boon to the household with how alert she was to the door, but now their house could not be more secure.
However, before he can even attempt to translate, or agree about Veronika and the bangboo, something catches his attention. (17)]
Rina? [He did not hear that incorrect. Hugo really called Irene 'Rina'? Something about that makes his heart swell in a way he can't describe. Were they not in a public place, he might've lost his composure a bit.
Rina, the name Victoria Housekeeping gave Alexandrina Sebastiane, Lycaon's closest confidant in his past life...was now the affectionate nickname Hugo gave his Lycanroc.]
[ Hugo quickly flaps his hand, attempting to push past his slip of the tongue. It was a nickname. Just a logical shortening of a name he gave Irene while Lycaon was gone! It didn't mean anything. At least, he'd love to say it didn't. Lycaon repeating it didn't help. Although the vampire closed his eyes, he could acutely feel the rise in heat to his cheeks, absolutely sure his pale skin was beginning to sport a flush of color. ]
Is that really important, or should we discuss the name of your Noibat?
[ Lycaon was not going to as embarrassed about it as Hugo was. That's a dangerous door to open. ]
Re..gardless. This should work out. They seem to be already getting along.
[ Should he....make sure they aren't in the same egg group? Was that a concern? ]
[He did have to admit, Veronika did have a striking resemblance to Hugo's new partner in Mockingbird and little sister figure of his past life. Both her color and parts of her personality. He'd be lying if he said the name wasn't chosen in reminiscence of hers.
Still, it wasn't nearly as embarrassing Hugo would feel about the opposite.]
I suppose you're right. But it does make me happy that you thought of her.
[The album Harumasa gave him with all the members of Victoria Housekeeping and Mockingbird together was becoming more and more the reality. He'll snap his attention back to the Pokemon, ears twitching to see if he could pick up any more communication.]
They seem to be debriefing on the situation. [And then voices (as discreetly as possible) what Hugo is thinking.]
We should...research their compatibility. Just in case.
